First Gen Z, I gave birth to one of you so I feel like I can give you some guidance. I happen to like my skinny jeans and side part. Second, I’m not a millennial. I’m a Gen Xer, so I’m older and wiser – and unafraid of your fashion judgement.
Now that I’ve stood up for my fashion choices, I’m going to make an admission. I like my skinny jeans because they have some spandex in them so they’re stretchy and comfy, and my side part disguises my thinning hair. Kind of like a mom comb-over. There, I said it, and I’m not ashamed. Well, maybe a little bit.
Anyway, that’s the great thing about fashion. It’s as unique as you are. It’s a reflection of your personality. My personality happens to like comfort. Besides, I wore mom jeans before they were mom jeans, and let’s just say, they would no longer be flattering now that I actually AM a mom.
It’s kind of fun to see people’s different personalities through their clothes. Some are whimsical, some are flirty, others trendy, and some unassuming. For the best examples, visit Goodwill Industries of Arkansas’s Instagram account. Check it out. @GoodwillAR.
Goodwill is not limited by “buyers” stocking a store with what THEY feel is trendy or colors deemed to be “in” this season. You can literally pick from countless styles to find one that fits you. People from all over the country have shared photos of their #GoodwillFinds. Seriously, just by looking at their photos, you can get a glimpse inside their lives, or at least I feel like I can. @grace.livs seems fun, but also maybe a little mysterious. @abrokebeauty, she’s confident and strong. @Subrina-runge looks playful and feminine, and @michs.green.closet is independent and creative. There are ideas for guys too. @Javonwallace_ … he looks like he’d be sensitive and kind. While my picture might say to you relaxed and comfortable, I can get all kinds of inspiration on the Gram. After all, you don’t feel the same every day, so why look the same every day?
At Goodwill, I can afford to have a variety of outfits to fit my changing mood. If I feel energetic with a dose of spring fever, I can pick out a flowy sun dress. If I’m feeling like I need some skinny jeans or leggings, my local Goodwill will always accommodate. And Gen Z, I don’t want to hear a word. You just bought my old fanny pack.
