The Academy at Goodwill, licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Private Career Education, provides the training needed to secure new employment and advance your career. Earn certificates in high-demand jobs such as Welding, Forklift Operator Training, CPR, Mental Health First Aid and Environmental Services Technician.

All classes are from  9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Mental Health First Aid is an international training program created to help people identify and get help for someone struggling with substance use or mental health issues. Topics covered include depression and mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, psychosis and substance use disorders. Trainees are taught how to apply the 5-step action plan in a variety of situations.

Cost covers materials, training and certification through the National Council for Behavioral Health. Classes are limited to 20 participants each.

Each registrant will need:
  • Access to a webcam. 
  • Separate accounts/logins for proof of attendance, testing and certification. 



Forklift classes are held every Friday

(with the exception of 11/27, 12/25, 1/1). 

Students in the Forklift Operator Training course will learn best practices for safely and efficiently operating a forklift in a warehouse setting. Upon successful completion, students will be trained and evaluated on the use of Class 1, Class 4, and Class 5 forklifts in common warehouse applications.   

Students will complete classwork through Google Classroom, attend an instructor-led virtual class via Zoom, followed by an in-person, hands-on practical driving session. After students register for the class, they will receive an email from the instructor on how to access classwork on Google Classroom. Students can choose from three time slots. You may select to complete your hands-on driving portion at either the Rogers or Little Rock Goodwill Resource Center.

Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate of completion from The Academy at Goodwill and a wallet sized badge to demonstrate proof of their achievement.

Learn Google IT Automation with Python. This six-course certificate, developed by Google, is designed to provide IT professionals with in-demand skills—including Python, Git, and IT automation—that can help you advance your career.

Knowing how to write code to solve problems and automate solutions is a crucial skill for anybody in IT. Python, in particular, is now the most in-demand programming language by employers. This program builds on your IT foundations to help you take your career to the next level. This certificate can be completed in about 6 months and is designed to prepare you for a variety of roles in IT, like more advanced IT support specialist or junior systems administrator positions. Upon completing the program, you’ll have the option to share your information with potential employers, like Walmart, Sprint, Hulu, Bank of America, Google and more.

This course is for advanced computer users and is primarily online, with access to live virtual instructors. A pre-course assessment will be required.
