Tina McCann earned her high school diploma at the age of 55! When she came to The Excel Center® at Goodwill, the tuition-free high school for adults, she tested at the fourth-grade level. She was apprehensive about coming back to school, but Tina was also ready to put in the work. “My teachers gave me the courage to finish. They tutored me every week. I went from fourth to seventh grade pretty quickly. I knew then that this was the beginning of a new life for me.”
Tina dropped out of school in the eleventh grade after she became pregnant. People told her she would never amount to anything. “When I received my diploma, I proved they were wrong!” Because others believed in her, she learned to believe in herself. She completed high school in 17 months. Tina then took what she calls “the next unbelievable step.” Tina enrolled in college. She is attending Southeast Arkansas College and is pursuing an associate degree in Business Management.
Thanks for changing a life!
