LITTLE ROCK, AR — Goodwill Industries of Arkansas opens the doors to its new retail store and donation center at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19. The newly renovated facility is a relocation site for Goodwill’s store, currently operating in the Gregory Place Shopping Center at 109 Gregory Place.
The new location will include a career center, the first Goodwill Career Center in Jacksonville. The career center is a place where individuals can get career readiness preparation from resume help to job search to find good local jobs. Brian Itzkowitz, President & CEO of Goodwill Industries of Arkansas, said, “We expect this new location to be a great addition to the Jacksonville community where we can serve more Arkansans. Our social enterprise is ‘Donate, Shop, Change a Life!™’ Visitors can experience each portion of our business—donations, shopping and career services—in one location.”
The new retail store and donation center will be in the same shopping center, but it will be located next to Harbor Freight at 1309 T.P. White Drive. Shoppers will find a bigger, brighter store full of merchandise that includes clothing for the whole family, electronics, books, toys, housewares and furniture. Donors will experience a covered drive-through donation center, making it more convenient for dropping off their gently used items no matter the weather. Donations start the cycle of Goodwill’s mission of changing lives through education, training and employment. Ninety-six percent of the revenue of donated items sold in its Goodwill stores goes directly towards its education, training and employment programs to empower individuals with disabilities and other disadvantages to achieve their full potential. Itzkowitz added, “When you donate or shop at Goodwill, you have a direct, positive impact on the lives of your neighbors. With the community’s support, we are able to provide employment programs and services to help Arkansans gain education and skills so that they can find jobs in our local communities. Together, we can help individuals build their careers and create brighter futures for their families, and, ultimately, our communities.”
The career center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday. The store and donation center are open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Monday to Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
During the grand opening weekend, shoppers can take advantage of a coupon for $5 off a $25 purchase and $15 off a $50 purchase. The coupon is good from Wednesday, April 19, to Sunday, April 23. In addition, shoppers can register for door prizes.
“We are pleased to invite the Jacksonville community to the grand opening of our new donation center, retail store and career center,” added Itzkowitz. “We look forward to welcoming the community for a tour of the new facility.”
