Goodwill starts a new chapter in Malvern with new Donation Center/Bookstore

Malvern residents and visitors to the Hot Springs County town have a new neighbor - Goodwill Industries of Arkansas. At the end of last year, Goodwill opened an Attended Donation Center (ADC) and book store inside the former Starbucks location at 1900 Martin Luther King Blvd. This is the first ADC and book store combo in the state.

Leisa Wamsley, vice president of Donated Goods for Goodwill, was pleased with the first week’s sales. “We have received a lot of really nice items and tons of books,” she said. “The new location is a great addition to the 25 retail stores Goodwill has across the state.”

The 1,845-square-foot store has a convenient drive-thru for donors. Goodwill accepts the following items: clothing, footwear, outerwear, accessories, housewares, books, games, furniture, arts and electronics. Goodwill is a pioneer in the “Go Green” movement. Goodwill’s donation-resale model extends the life of usable clothing and other goods, keeping them out of landfills longer. The revenue earned at our stores goes back into the community through job creation, job training programs and employment placement services.

Currently four employees work at the new Malvern store which is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Donations collected at the Malvern location provide inventory for Goodwill’s retail centers.
