Sarah Pine

You gave me my life back
If you ask Sarah Pine what Goodwill gave her, she would be quick to say “a second chance at life!”
Getting involved with drugs cost Sarah Pine her children, home, and even her freedom for a while. After dealing with the consequences, Sarah was ready to get her life and her kids back, however, her background made it difficult to find employment. For Sarah, no employment meant she would not be able to have her children return home.
Sarah was referred to Goodwill where she entered the transitional training program. Sarah took full advantage of Goodwill’s other services as well, learning how to use Word and Excel, and working with a job coach to create a resume and receive job interviewing tips.
In the training program, Sarah’s work ethic was quickly noticed by Goodwill supervisors. “Sarah displays on a daily basis Goodwill’s core values – integrity, community, accountability, respect and excellence,” said job coach Joe Bruton.
That dedication led to Sarah leaving Goodwill’s training program early in order to be hired as a full time Goodwill employee.
“I wish I could duplicate Sarah’s character and work ethic in all employees,” said Rose Burson, a Goodwill store manager.
Sarah loves working at Goodwill and recommends Goodwill to people on a daily basis. “Goodwill changed my life in every possible way. They gave me a job and a second chance.”
Now, Sarah is working on getting her children back and she will be the first to tell you how the people at Goodwill have gone out of their way to provide resources in helping her. “I’m just a single mom of three who messed up and Goodwill has given me the opportunity to get my life back,” says Sarah.
